Data & Analysis Caveats

The biggest caveat to note from the data set including all of the athletes in the history of the Olympic Games and the events they competed in is that country names are not static over time. Over the past 100+ years, numerous countries now cease to exist or are under a different name. As such, for our analysis, we summarized medals won by current established countries. Also, it should be noted that there were a few countries that did not have country profile data or mean height data in the data sets we utilized. Because of this, there were a very small subset of countries that have won medals in the Olympic Games, but we were unable to include them in our summary analysis. These exclusions however made up a very small percentage of total metals won and therefore had little to no effect on our correlation analysis.

Our data is compiled from the following sources alongside additional csv files from data cleaning:

• 120 years of Olympic history: athletes and results (Kaggle)
• Human Height (Kaggle)
• Country Statistics - UNData (Kaggle)
